Valentine’s Day Stories, Games, & Centers For Preschool Special Education

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I am getting ready to bring in lots of fun Valentine’s Day centers for my preschool special education class.  Here are some fun center ideas to incorporate into your class for Valentine’s Day:

Fill bins with hearts, gems, red and white beans and add Valentine’s Day vocabulary words, academic themed letters and numbers, and sorting colors to your sensory bins.

Adapted Colorful Stories

Make story time interactive using a colorful
heart adapted book.  Reinforce basic colors with your students by having
them match the colored hearts while reading.

Math Center Activities:

1.Count and identify numbers 1-10 with counting clip cards using clothespins or markers.  Use for individual work.

2. Valentine’s Day Dice Game.  Attach numbers or dots to large dice.  Roll the dice and cover the correct number with a heart gem or use a marker to mark the correct number

3.1-10 Counting Mats: Use counting mats to reinforce number identification and counting 1-10.  Use in small groups, partner work, or individually

Alphabet Letter Centers

1. Letter Hunt Game: Place letter cards in a mystery box or around the room. Have students use the letter find game mat to mark with a marker or place a bingo chip on the correct letter they find.

2. Alphabet Clothespin Clip Activity: use clothespins or a marker to mark the same upper to lowercase letter.

3. Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Sort: Sort letters cards by uppercase and lowercase and place them on the sorting mats.

You can make your own centers and activities or you can check out my resources by clicking on the picture or name of the center.  Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
